The 503CW was introduced in 1996 as the last version of the 500/503 V system cameras and was made up to around 2010.

- the new GMS 'gliding mirror system' geometry which means that there is no image cut off with longer focal length lenses
- will take the 'Winder CW' electric winder
- TTL/OTF flash metering
- Acute Matte D focusing screen
